September 2004 a group of 19 of us set off for a cycling journey at Pulau Ubin which initiated by K.K. We met around 10 am and we took our breakfast at Changi market before setting of to Pulau Ubin
I was excited towards my journey that day as is been long wish that I wanted to visit Pulau Ubin however I do not have the chance. I heard about Pulau Ubin many many times from my surrounding friends when I stay in Singapore. They told me that was a army training group for many infantry. I can also see the village life style of old Singaporean. Notwithstanding the exciting cycling journey that I can experience there.
We approached the ferry jetty around 11.30am. I was surprised to see that I am going to take the old wooden boat to ferry us over to Pulau Ubin as I taught in modern Singapore it should be something more advance instead. It was a long queue but we waited less than 10 mins to fetch a boat. One boat can take maximum 13 persons so we need two boats and we paid for $2 per person per trip. It was a nice boat ride to me.
At around 11.45am I finally step my foot into the land of Pulau Ubin It appeared similarly like what other people described the old life style of Singaporean…. At that moment I was thinking Singapore a small little land within a short time flame of 39 years of development can progress into today successful status I really impressed towards the effort their government had done these year.

Well we rented a bike at the price of $4 per person after much negotiation and finally we kick off our journey near noon time. To me the road condition was much better to cycle compare in Nepal hah….. but I can still find few of our friends finding difficulties cycling the small and roughly road and up the slop. We cycle to visit one temple than to a deep water storage area from government. According to Foo’s the dept of that area was very, very deep so don’t play, play hah and jump inside….
The whole cycling journey take about 3 hours…. It was a good one however we encounter a small incident during the cycling trip. K.K. got fall down when coming down the slop and he was badly injured. Gladly Roger did brought along first aid kit and we bandage him. Throughout this incident I can also see the friendship born that our volunteers friends have regardless where we are they are always that caring and concern.
We leave the place near 3pm and back home sweet home.
